Issue No. 2
September 2007

Ecosystems inspire us

In an ecosystem, the members work together to maintain a steady, secure state and to repel disruptive influences. Interconnectedness and cooperation make an ecosystem resilient and adaptable. What a great model for our high-speed production solutions. At GraphExpo we demonstrated our steadiest states for transactional print and book manufacturing – solutions in which hardware, software and services work together in a streamlined manner with an emphasis on speed, quality and accuracy. There we go again, pushing a concept and redefining what's possible.

Solutions

InfoPrint BookFlow. Compelling plot, fascinating characters, happy endings.
Cover to cover, the InfoPrint BookFlow suite of software may remind you of your favorite books, at least the ones with happy endings. We and our strategic partners integrate our software to create an automated book manufacturing solution that is designed to help you "start small and grow" or add capabilities to an existing digital book solution. Either way, you can streamline production and lower costs – from order entry through bindery – and capitalize on a great business opportunity:

  • Dazzle publishers with quick turnarounds on short-run books.
  • Control your entire digital print shop centrally with InfoPrint Manager.
  • Automate workflow with InfoPrint ProcessDirector using plug-in modules and third-party software.
  • Manage a higher volume of jobs more efficiently and cost effectively in multi-vendor environments.

When you combine InfoPrint BookFlow with our high-speed mono and color continuous form printers and cutsheet printers, you can produce impressive halftones, vibrant color, versioning and a lot more. Our debut at Graph Expo generated lots of buzz and excellent "book reviews." Ask your InfoPrint representative for details.

InfoPrint 5000. High-speed, high-quality, high-reliability, variable-data, color output.
Until now, customers have had to choose between graphic arts quality/low-speed solutions, and potentially high-speed but lower-quality output. The InfoPrint 5000 fills a gap in the market by delivering high-quality output on low-cost digital EP papers, at high speed. With the addition of Advanced Function Presentation (AFP™) support, the InfoPrint 5000 is now an even better color solution to meet the requirements of customers who print transactional/mission-critical applications.

The InfoPrint 5000's innovative drop-on-demand inkjet color technology with its tight web, compact fixed printhead array, low-drying temperatures, and unique pigment inks can deliver excellent print quality (720 x 360 dpi, 2 bits per spot, variable drop sizes) for statements, direct mail, marketing materials and some types of books. The unique water-based pigment inks resist fading and smearing.

At Graph Expo 2007 we announced the addition of AFP to the existing PS/PDF support on the InfoPrint 5000. AFP provides customers the benefit of centralized resource management, data integrity, and the audits/controls that they are accustomed to with their InfoPrint 4000/4100 AFP solutions. The InfoPrint 5000 conforms with the color management architecture recently published by the AFP Color Consortium, making it easier for customers to transition to color. In addition, our complementary workflow solutions can deliver even more control at the printer and job level.

The InfoPrint 5000, already an industry leader in its combination of quality, reliability, and speed, is now an outstanding choice for customers who require an AFP full color solution.

Webcast: Output Transformation: Lower cost, boost efficiency, grow your business.
With new software and hardware options, you can put a lot of frustrations behind you forever – preprinted forms, unnecessary printing, high print costs, old inflexible applications, hard copy archiving, disjointed output creation and delivery, and unreliable hardware.

Now you can combine output technologies, software and device management utilities in customized solutions that enable electronic document design and device-independent applications for impact, laser and thermal/RFID.

Join us for a replay of this webcast to discover how you can lower cost and grow your business by transforming the way you create and distribute output. • Intelligent Inserters. If you feel stuck with optical mark recognition or you need to add vision systems or you want to take advantage of file-based insertion, don't miss this webcast. You can improve integrity and security at a reasonable cost, and most likely without changing existing mainframe applications.

Transpromo Summit. Transaction + promotion = powerful, personalized communications.
Transpromo – the combination of transaction and promotion – enables you to integrate statements and other transactional communications into a multi-channel marketing strategy. Instead of a cost of doing business, statements can become revenue generators.

Sessions at the Transpromo Summit helped attendees start thinking about transpromo campaigns, brand-building, cross-selling and the use of personalized URLs, custom images and personalized messages to improve ROI.

Color was a hot topic at the event because it's a powerful way to attract readership and drive higher results. Chris Reid, one of our InfoPrint color experts, was on hand to discuss our color strategy, the importance of having the right infrastructure to manage color workflows and the InfoPrint 5000 color printing system. According to Reid, "Momentum is building for transpromo solutions in the marketplace, and InfoPrint Solutions is well positioned to help our customers realize the true benefits and capture all of the value that these solutions promise."
