Issue No. 7

Welcome to the InfoPrint Solutions Company Output Environment Update

At InfoPrint Solutions Company, we’re continually developing product enhancements and solutions that can help you match the right technology to the right applications in your offices and warehouses. After all, that’s the best way to satisfy your requirements for reliability, quality, user adoption and TCO.

Past, Present, Future – Skip the "Tense" Part

Crystal balls have long been a symbol of seeing the past, present and future. Actually, there are several reflective or translucent objects used for this purpose in addition to crystal: fingernail, water, mirror, black stone or a pool of ink in the hand. We don’t subscribe to this method of inquiry to help us design output solutions – far too uncertain – but we analyze information from several sources to guide our research and development. We track trends and talk to industry analysts and our customers. Then we develop solutions that are designed to improve your operational picture today and ease your business into the future. While we can’t do anything about the past, we can give you a few ideas that can take the “tense” out of present and future.

InfoPrint Solutions Company Printer Management Utility

Imagine "hands-off" remote management of your printer network. That's what the InfoPrint Solutions Company Printer Management Utility (PMU) software can bring to your supply chain. PMU enhances printer availability, expedites printer setup and minimizes delays – most issues can be resolved without an on-site visit. As a result your line runs more smoothly, which pleases everyone involved.

A Virtual Operator Panel allows help desk staff members to view and access printer controls. In a way, they become "all seeing, all hearing, all knowing," which allows them to be proactive instead of reactive. Other popular PMU functions include the following:

  • See remotely a printer’s status and estimated ribbon life.
  • Set up and more accurately configure multiple printers remotely and simultaneously.
  • Organize multiple printers into groups with individual configurations.
  • Receive alert notifications automatically by e-mail, page or cell phone – and take action immediately to address problems.
  • Access a log of changes and status updates.
  • Download software and printer settings remotely from a host computer.

The biggest benefit of all, though, may be to your bottom line because you can reduce administration and maintenance costs. A complimentary download, PMU works with the InfoPrint 6500 line matrix printer and the InfoPrint 6700 thermal printer, which offers optional RFID capability.

MAPPING Suite software

The writing is on the wall, so to speak, with respect to business communication documents. They're getting more complex – with color and personalization – and more challenging to produce and deliver in all the various formats required. Many companies need to substantially reinvent how they are communicating. If your company is one of them and you don't want to reinvent the wheel, MAPPING Suite¹ may just be the answer.

MAPPING Suite software allows you to create, repurpose and synthesize documents and deliver them in the format you choose. You can start with almost any data (print, XML, ERP or database) and produce documents for almost any type of printer (standard office PCL, IPDS™ and industrial/thermal). You can also deliver documents via fax, e-mail, or Web. And MAPPING Suite can run on just about any platform, including System i™, System p™, System x™, AIX®, HP-UX, Unix®, Linux® or Windows®.

Optional functions let you do even more to manage your communications efficiently and effectively:

  • Develop new reports using an advanced graphical query interface
  • Produce automated correspondence applications
  • Support AFP™ print datastream and IPDS printers
  • Index and archive documents for later Web access or distribution
  • Support encoding of RFID chips in addition to full range of barcodes
  • Manage large numbers of printers and print files

With MAPPING Suite, you can address these business communication issues:

  • It’s too difficult, costly or time-consuming to maintain document content.
  • You need to create personalized, 1:1 communications but don’t have the right tools.
  • Your correspondence applications are either manual or a kluge running on Windows.
  • Printing costs are high and getting higher.
  • Printers are spread across multiple servers, application systems and datastreams, and they’re not being used effectively.
  • You need to move more documents from print delivery to electronic distribution.

Whether your business is small, medium or large, MAPPING Suite software can enhance your business communications: (1) boost customer satisfaction, customer retention and customer revenues and (2) improve asset utilization coupled with lower costs, output flexibility and higher productivity.

InfoPrint Solutions Company supplies

While supplies are small items in your output environment, they can consume lots of time related to ordering and inventory management. Especially when you rely on multiple vendors. We can help simplify your life and provide a wide range of supplies from a single source. And InfoPrint Solutions Company supports the environment by sponsoring a program to help to reduce the number of used printer cartridges that are placed into landfills. Ask your InfoPrint Solutions Partner or InfoPrint Solutions Company representative about our pre-paid return system that recovers these components for recycle, reuse, reclaim or remanufacture.

InfoPrint Solutions Company supplies are designed to maximize productivity, minimize maintenance, and reduce cost per page so that you can get the most from your printing investment. Even better, InfoPrint Solutions Company offers far more than just toner cartridges. Check out the dropdown menu on the InfoPrint Solutions Company supplies Web page that gives you a complete list of supplies by InfoPrint Solutions Company printer model (workgroup laser and MFP, impact and non-impact industrial, cutsheet, continuous forms and enterprise color).

Here's a short list of the products that you can order through your InfoPrint Solutions Partner:

The future of [your industry]

What does the future hold for your industry? Our customers tell us that planning for an uncertain future is one of their most challenging and important activities. We don't have a reliable crystal ball but we've done some future-casting that you may find interesting. We created "the future of" scenarios for several industries along with roadmaps to help you implement the appropriate output solutions. We don't, of course, know for sure what will happen, but our roadmaps take into account industry analyst reports, client feedback and our own research and analysis.
