Manage and monitor from anywhere in your enterpriseThe InfoPrint Manager GUIs allow centralized management of printers and jobs through an easy-to-use interface. With these graphical user interfaces (GUIs), you can remotely view, set or change the characteristics of printers and jobs, and start or stop printers as needed. You can also: Monitor the status of any job or printer; delete or move any print job; and forward-space, back-space or shut down printers—all from any workstation in your network that has the InfoPrint Manager GUI installed.
InfoPrint Notifications allow InfoPrint Manager to send timely messages about print jobs, printers or other elements of your InfoPrint system. You can receive the messages via wireless devices or e-mail, or have them pop up on a PC monitor.
Leveraging existing investments
Datastream transforms included in InfoPrint Manager allow InfoPrint Manager to accept jobs from a wide variety of applications and convert them to a datastream that is appropriate for your printer. With InfoPrint Manager, you can efficiently leverage new print capabilities without changing your existing applications, datastreams or print commands—and do so from any point on the network.
Job Ticketer accepts the JDF job tickets created by existing applications, and converts them into InfoPrint Manager job tickets for submission.
In addition, optional features of InfoPrint Manager V4.2 for AIX 5L allow it to accept and manage LCDS and metacode data from your existing applications. InfoPrint XT for AIX 5L works with InfoPrint Manager to convert LCDS and metacode data to Intelligent Printer Data Stream™ (IPDS™); to be sent to IPDS printers. The LCDS/meta driver for AIX 5L allows InfoPrint Manager to accept LCDS and metacode data and submit it to Xerox EPS printers—so you can use InfoPrint Manager to drive those printers directly.

InfoPrint® Manager V4.2 for AIX 5L software, announced and released in September 2005, provides new functionality to increase your operational flexibility and productivity making the software more valuable to your ever-changing business. With the technology’s improved integration with other parts of the business, you can simplify operations, improve resource management and improve the productivity of your print environment.
Some of these new enhancements are:
- InfoPrint Solutions Company Print Services Facility for i5/OS (PSF) Input Record Enhancements: Integration with other parts of your business is essential for a more complete solution. With the PSF enhancements, you can access data dynamically and modify it according to the business requirements. You can gain more flexibility for record management, as well as improved security for data management.
- Channel out support for LCDS/metacode devices: Channel out support can help enhance and streamline operations within your production environment while reducing disruption. With the InfoPrint Manager Line Conditioned Data Stream/metacode driver, you can configure and support channel out devices (InfoPrint Solutions Company S/370)—a capability that helps to increase flexibility and control by allowing you to run legacy and current applications under one system.
- PIMSG : Development and testing of an output application before it gets to production can be time consuming and error prone. InfoPrint Manager, with the enhancement of PIMSG, can help you easily switch applications from test environment into production with little configuration. As a result, you can increase the productivity of the development process and lower costs.
Functional enhancements for Release 2
Print-on-Demand feature improvements- InfoPrint Job Ticketer : A browser-based job ticketing interface. InfoPrint Job Ticketer is a Web application that can be accessed through a Web browser from both Microsoft® Windows® and Macintosh systems. Using Job Ticketer, you can build job tickets, store them, and submit jobs to your InfoPrint Manager destinations. Job Ticketer can accept both job description file (JDF) and InfoPrint Submit job tickets and convert them for submission. Job Ticketer also includes a page placement facility that allows you to decide where each page should be positioned on the paper when you’re printing to a printer that supports enhanced n-up.
- InfoPrint Submit Express:The functionality of InfoPrint Submit for Windows and InfoPrint Submit for Macintosh has been consolidated into one interface: InfoPrint Submit Express. A Java technology-based application, InfoPrint Submit Express replaces InfoPrint Submit on both platforms, providing virtually the same list of features.
- PPML to AFP transform: The Personalized Print Markup Language (PPML) to InfoPrint Solutions Company AFP™ transform has been enhanced to support IOCA FS10 as an output format. Performance enhancements have also been added to reduce transform time.
- Halftone Management System:The Halftone Management System has been moved to the Print on Demand feature for the InfoPrint Manager V4.2 for AIX 5L offering. The system is used to calibrate printers so they can print high-quality grayscale images.
InfoPrint Transform Manager for Linux® technology can be set up to work with InfoPrint Manager. Environments that rely heavily on datastream transforms can stress their print servers and experience slower system performance. Transform Manager can integrate seamlessly with InfoPrint Manager to process datastream transforms on a separate system, leaving your InfoPrint Manager server to focus on job submission and management.
Datastream transforms and file format support- Ability to convert XML to AFP and PDF formats: InfoPrint Manager can now accept XML files with an accompanying XSL style sheet to be converted to AFP or PDF formats for printing. It can also accept and transform XML-FO files, which contain both the XML and XSL information.

Since print problems occasionally occur, InfoPrint Manager has added functionality designed to improve productivity and reduce production downtime. InfoPrint Manager can now print message pages at the point of error, if that error has the potential to cause data loss. By printing messages on the actual media, operators can find them easily and make the necessary corrections.
Korean language supportInfoPrint Manager has been translated into Korean.
